MVSA: More Than Just a Club – A Bridging of Cultures, A Strengthening of Bonds

At McGill University, the McGill Vietnamese Students’ Association (MVSA) serves as more than just a student club—it is a vibrant community where members come together to reconnect with their roots, celebrate their shared heritage and introduce the beauty of Vietnamese culture to international friends. Beyond the formal work, MVSA members form long-lasting friendships, creating a tight-knit inclusive community that supports one another throughout their academic journey.

During Tết, the Vietnamese Lunar New Year, MVSA transforms the SSMU Ballroom into a lively celebration of tradition and homecoming. Through vibrant colors of Vietnamese traditional áo dài, folk games, lantern making, calligraphy, accompanied by the rhythmic dragon dance performance and delicious Vietnamese food, MVSA brings to the community an environment where international friends can experience the warmth, rich and exquisite characteristics of Vietnamese culture and heritage. Beyond that, the club also strives to deliver a heartfelt tribute, a familiar taste of home to those far from their families.

Amidst the warm and colorful ambiance, MVSA’s Chợ Tết event is more than just a cultural showcase—it is a heartfelt reminder that despite the distance being half the globe apart, the Vietnamese community at McGill and in Montreal will always have a place to belong. 🇻🇳
