DTech, a student-run organization that aims to connect McGill students with the business and technology industries, is hosting DTech’s Den this upcoming February, running from the 7th to the 13th. This event will give students the opportunity to hone their entrepreneurial skills and win a $1000 prize.
About DTech
Young leaders with new ideas are key to the pursuit of innovation in the fields of business and technology. However, getting involved in these fields can seem intimidating to students who feel they lack the necessary knowledge to break in and are still building their expertise. DTech is a student-led organization founded in 2015 with the mission of linking technology and business to the McGill student body through events and initiatives. The DTech team is female-led, with 57% of its team consisting of women, and includes thirteen diverse and talented students from an array of faculties, including arts, engineering, management, and science. The organization aims to foster innovation, connect students with industry experts, and organize impactful events.
DTech currently has a myriad of initiatives, including the Desautels’ Technology Review (DTR), the McGill Chapter of the Association of Information Systems (AIS), and a unique Board of Advisors. For more information about these initiatives, check out DTech’s website.

Previous Dtech Events
DTech has already made a mark with its past events, including the Recruitment Panel & Networking Cocktail held in September 2023. This day-long technology career fair provided a platform for more than ten firms to connect with young talent. In addition, the Dialectica Case Competition in March 2023 focused on strategy and marketing, challenging forty students to solve real-world business problems. This week-long event not only honed participants’ problem-solving and case-cracking skills, but also facilitated valuable networking opportunities. The networking event at the competition’s conclusion allowed students to exchange feedback with Dialectica’s representatives and receive first-hand advice. In total, DTech has coordinated over 15 events, accumulating an audience of over 500 attendees.
DTech’s Den
From February 7-13, 2024, DTech is hosting another exciting event: DTech’s Den. This event will be a dragon’s den-style pitch competition that aims to ignite the entrepreneurial spirit among McGill students. The week-long innovation and entrepreneurship challenge will task students with creating their own start-ups and products centered around the theme of Sustainability and Technology. Participants in DTech’s Den will present their creations to a panel of judges, providing a real-world platform to showcase their entrepreneurial skills. The event will culminate in a closing ceremony, offering not only recognition for the winners but also a chance for all participants to celebrate their creativity and hard work. With a generous prize pool of $1000 and sponsorship from prominent entities like Dobson, DTech’s Den is an event that you won’t want to miss.
For those eager to be part of this exciting event, sign-ups for DTech’s Den will open in early January. Don’t miss this opportunity to showcase your innovative ideas, connect with industry professionals, and compete for a chance to win a share of the $1000 prize pool. DTech’s Den is not just a competition; it’s a journey into the world of entrepreneurship, sustainability, and technology.
